Rav De Silva

Presenter bio

Rav De Silva is a PhD candidate at Western Sydney University, researching building envelope compliance in Australian high-rise construction. With a background in engineering and construction compliance, Rav brings over three decades of industry experience in specification sales and development, building products supply and compliance, and regulatory reform. His doctoral research focuses on developing a Functional Layer Model (FLM) and an AI-based certificate verification tool to improve the reliability of product selection and compliance documentation.

Rav has engaged with key industry stakeholders, including the Fire Engineers, Manufacturers, Approved Test Laboratories (ATL) and NATSPEC, to explore the future of digital compliance platforms and the role of performance-based solutions in reshaping the built environment. Passionate about bridging the gap between design intent and regulatory compliance, Rav advocates for practical, scalable tools that support early-stage decision-making and reduce risk in both new and existing buildings.
